Hi,

I’m Saskia de Glopper a 20 year old Dutch girl and today is the last day of my internship at Marketing Mechanics and it was amazing!

The time went so fast. Before you know you’re living for 3 months on the other side of the world without noticing. No, that’s not true. Of course you notice. Everything is different and the weather is a lot better. But the Marketing Mechanics team makes you feel at home straight away.

Of course following an internship at Marketing Mechanics was amazing. The team were very kind and funny and it was a great learning experience and I liked the bowling Christmas Party ;)  But that is not the only thing why an internship abroad is something you should do once in your life. You’re living on your own in a city you don’t know and that gives you the opportunity to learn about yourself. Living in beautiful Sydney is something I wouldn’t want to miss out on. At one side the big buildings mixed with the old classic buildings and a little ride on the bus takes you to the most beautiful beaches.

I’m glad that I had the opportunity to do an internship at Marketing Mechanics. and if I have the choice I would do it all again.

Thanks for the experience! I’m gonna miss you all.

Cheers,
Sas

Hi everyone,

My name is Caroline and I am a 21 years old French girl! For the past 6 months I have been working at Marketing Mechanics. It was a great experience to join the family and I will never forget it.

I have learned a lot about marketing, social media, TV, radio and print advertising, blogs, forums and also about myself! All the team was always very nice, helpful, funny and serious when needed. I enjoyed all that moments and I couldn't have asked for more.

I would like to thank you all, Diane and Bonnie, Ayeisha, Daniel, Andrew and the friendly interns, Saskia and Leonie, for making this adventure one of the best memories of my life! You really made me feel at home during these six months and I am very sad to leave summer and Australia. I will miss you all; you've been a great team to work with.

All that adventure has had such a great influence on me. I know that I will come back soon for sure; I still have to work on my Aussie accent and most importantly, I need to take revenge at bowling!

Cheers,

Caroline

Hi there,

My name is Florian and I'm a 26 year old male from Germany. The last ten weeks I've completed an internship at Marketing Mechanics and gained many new experiences .The whole team were always very kind and helpful. While at Marketing Mechanics I felt I expanded my knowledge and learned new things. I work in Germany as a media designer and I always wanted to work abroad, so I have really enyoed  this opportunity, I'm  so glad that I've done it. To have this experience in such a beautiful country is something I'll never forget.

Certainly it takes more time to settle properly in a foreign country, but after a while you feel at home. The life in Australia offers you a chance to improve on the  english language and to live with many nationalities.

I'll miss the time and the people around me. But it's called    “You always meet twice! “

Cheers,

Florian

Hello all!

My name is Yanin Nanakorn and I’m a 20-year-old girl from the States, never would have guessed from the name, would you? Prior to ever leaving the US, I knew that I wanted to do an internship while studying abroad in Sydney, Australia. Luckily for me, through Macquarie University’s internship program, and Diane’s faith in my abilities, I was allowed this opportunity with Marketing Mechanics! For someone who’s never interned with a full service agency before, this experience has been everything I wanted it to be and more. The first day on the job I was assigned to help design a website for a client. It was mind blowing to me that a few days later it was a fully functioning website, and part of that was my doing!
At Marketing Mechanics, I was exposed to a wide variety of projects, from out of home to commercials and radio to television. I never would have learned so much about all of the different areas of an agency if it wasn’t for this internship and I am so glad I was able to do it. It added a huge element to my time in Sydney overall and I couldn’t have asked for more.

I have to thank Andrew and Ayeisha for helping to build my marketing skills, Nico and Kristen for being great fellow interns, Daniel for thinking it’s weird to eat veal, and mostly Diane for allowing me to make this six months one of the best times of my life. So, on my last day I must say I’m a bit sad that it has come to an end, but it was a great run here. As they say, it’s not the amount of time you’re given, but how you use it that counts, and thanks to Marketing Mechanics I’ve optimized my experience in a massive way!

I’ll miss everyone heaps!
xoxox,
Yanin

Linde van Erp

Good day! My name is Linde and I am a 20 year old Dutchie! For the past 5 months I’ve been living in Sydney, the city of dreams! Working as an intern at Marketing Mechanics has been a blast. It was my first time working fulltime for a marketing and advertising agency and the fact that it was abroad, thousands of kilometres away from home was exciting but scary at the same time. Di & Bonnie made me feel home right away with being so excited about us as interns. They are always in for a chat and make you smile with all their funny stories. In the office upstairs I have been working with the other interns Carmen, Evelien and Willem and my colleagues Marcel, Andrew and Giorgia. I loved the fact that there was always something going on, lots of work to do and that we could always ask about things we wanted to learn. I have learned so much from working at Marketing Mechanics. From radio-, TV-, print- and online advertising to personal development. Celebrating birthdays is what we are good at. It was great to sit around the table, eating the best cake and sharing stories with each other. Besides that I loved working with different nationalities and hearing about some Australian habits such as ‘The Housos’.

Overall both working at Marketing Mechanics and living in Sydney has made my year. I am in love with Sydney. It’s a city where everything is possible and where urban meets nature. The city that makes your day, every day. The city where all nationalities come together, where everyone can be excited about a racing horse, where you find furniture everywhere on the streets. A city that has playgrounds for adults, where everyone is fit, with good food everywhere same with beaches and parks.

Sometimes it’s because you want to share everything with your friends and family back home but then you realise you can share everything (pictures, videos, stories) except the experience.

But as you can read, I was living the good life in Sydney and working at Marketing Mechanics.

Thank you so much for this experience! And as it is the 22th of December it’s time to say: Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year!
