Enrica - Italy

My name is Enrica Zambonin, I am Italian and I have a MA Degree in Communication Design. I came in Australia six months ago because wanted to make a life change, improve my English and learn as much as possible about Marketing and the aboriginal culture. I am happy I have satisfied my desire because I arrived with very little experience of the business world and even less of Australia, but the team helped me grow in confidence and capacity and I’ll hope to pursue a career in marketing in my near future.

Three months ago I started my internship at Marketing Mechanics. Everybody was always so kind and friendly with me, I soon became an integrated part of the team. During my time here I learned many different aspects of marketing. In fact, I started to write marketing digital reports, analyse competitors, and to get a lot of responsibility about my own projects.

In this experience I have grown both professionally and personally. Diane gave me a lot of advice, not only regarding work, she motivated and encouraged me every time.

It is sad now to think my time at Marketing Mechanics is already over after 3 months. It’s always hard for me to say goodbye and it seems like only yesterday that I was reading the other intern blogs in Italy and now I’m writing my own in Australia!

THANK YOU for making my time here so interesting, funny and unforgettable!

Erica - Taiwan

My name is Erica, from Taiwan. My major is human resources management. I can’t image that I am writing the intern blog. It seems that I just came here to have an interview. I still can remember the very first time I arrived here. The people here are really nice. After talking to Diane, I am sure that I want to try and have different experiences here. Luckily, I got this offer.

The first week was really challenging. Diane gave me a task that I have to do the secondary research. In order to help our clients to figure the potential market, I had to collect the quantitative and qualitative data. For me, this task was very exciting because I‘ve never done this before and it was not an easy job. However, I found something interesting in this job. While I was searching the quantitative data in the statistical database, I tried to contact the city council to help me to get the data. To be honest, I didn’t think that they would share the data with me, but I still want to try. Surprisingly, they give me the information which is exactly I need! After finishing this stage, the marketing team incorporate all of the data into marketing plan for the clients. I got the report as well. Being one part of this plan was very fulfilling and satisfying to me.

The following days, Diane gave me another challenging job which is about the strategy. I used academic models (example: Jay barney-competitive advantages, Porter- five forces analysis,…) to interpret data, and incorporate into Marketing Mechanics marketing strategy. I can’t believe that Diane believed in me that I can do these jobs.(because I can’t believe that I can finish these!!!!) I am so appreciative that I got this chance.

As an intern of Marketing Mechanics, I can try everything new and they will encourage you to achieve the goal! I really enjoyed this research job. Although I am not major in marketing, during these days I have learned a lot of new things which are very helpful for me!

Time went so fast, I wish I could stay longer because everything here is so amazing! I want to thank Diane she sets a wonderful sample for me. I can see that she is not only the owner of this team, but also a soul of Marketing Mechanics. Thank you for all the people in Marketing Mechanics. Thank you, Andrew, Britt, Bonnie, Daniel, Adam, David, Ivy and Kelvin (and William)!!!! I will remember every happy and funny moment we had experienced together. My 2016 is so incredible because of Marketing Mechanics!!!

Kelvin Yap - Indonesia

The internship that I had in Marketing Mechanics has been very insightful and overall a valuable experience.
I'm an Indonesian IT graduate from the University of Technology Sydney. The three months I spent with Marketing Mechanics flew by fast, but I'm glad I chose this company for my internship. I got to practice my skills in a professional environment, get a better understanding on the business side of things and learn some marketing.
The Marketing Mechanics team consisted of very helpful and unique people. It was a small team, but it was a very capable and hardworking team. They also have a great sense of humour!
Diane and the crew gave ample opportunities for the interns to experience new things while providing solid feedbacks all the time. Even as an intern, I felt there was a lot of trust and I felt included as part of the team.
Going through the Christmas rush was an interesting experience. The team was always on high gear and cranked up a lot of work week after week. I was also very lucky to experience Christmas celebrations with the team (great cruise, kris kringle and fun time decorating the office).
Big shout-out to Di, Bonnie, Andrew, Britt and Dan, also Will, Adam, David and Ivy for making the internship worthwhile. I also got to know the other interns Peter and Erica - both great people and we exchanged many stories during our internship.
I wish you all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Best of luck,

Kelvin

Peter Welner, Denmark

Feels like no time since I started my internship at Marketing Mechanics! Time runs fast when you are in good company.

I’m a danish IT student, who came to Australia hoping to get a lifetime experience where I could utilize what I learned during my studies in a professional environment, but also to have fun, make new friends and expand my network. I achieved all of this and more during my stay at Marketing Mechanics! From the moment I arrived the team quickly made feel very welcome and like a valued member of the little family.

Diane and her staff were very dedicated in making my time in the company a great and useful experience, going out of their way to include me in everything and making sure I learned as much as possible from every job I handled. I worked on a range of projects during my stay, all of which Diane had ensured helped me in the direction I wanted to go - so that was just ideal. But also, the office vibe always fun and friendly, which made going to work every day really enjoyable!

Overall, I grew a great deal both personally and professionally, and I would recommend anyone with the opportunity to jump at it, and spend a few months as an intern in Marketing Mechanics. You will be in good hands! A big thank you to the team, hope to see you all again soon.

Cheers!

Louise, Kent - UK

It is incredible to think my time at Marketing Mechanics is already over. It seems like only yesterday that I was reading the other intern blogs to see what I was getting myself into, and now I’m writing my own! To any new interns reading these blogs and thinking it sounds too good to be true, it’s not! The team really are as welcoming and supportive as they sound and my time there was invaluable.

I am an English Literature and Business student from the UK, hoping to pursue a career in marketing. I arrived at Marketing Mechanics with very little experience of the business world and even less of Australia, but the team very quickly put me at ease and helped me grow in confidence and ability. The team was incredibly supportive and really encouraged me to experiment with my content marketing skills, something I hope to pursue in the future; while Britt taught me the ways of Australia (and New Zealand), with their abbreviations, “deadly” ticks and awesome burger joints. In all honesty, Marketing Mechanics is just one big family, with Diane nurturing us all with her brilliant advice and contagious laugh.

During my time there I was exposed to many different aspects of marketing, gaining particularly good experience with social media schedules, marketing plans, media buying and customer interactions. The diversity of clients kept me challenged, making the work so much more dynamic and interesting.

So one last massive THANK YOU to everyone there, I hope to see you all again soon.

Much love, Louise xox

Vicky Jahns, Germany

It’s always hard to say goodbye. Goodbye means an end and I don’t want my time at Marketing Mechanics to end…. Six months ago I started my internship here. It was easy to settle in. Everybody was so kind and friendly so after one month I became an integrated part of the team.  I started to get a lot of responsibility and my own projects. I learned to create comprehensive marketing plans, got insights in film and video production and had my own content marketing projects. I’m so happy that I’ve had a boss like Di. She gave me advice, not only regarding work, she motivated and encouraged me, she gave me power when I had bad days and she took care of me. In a foreign country where you don’t know anybody and anything, a person like Di is worth a mint.

I never really felt like an intern, everybody treated me like an equal part of the staff. My workmates became my friends. We shared all our stories, pains and secrets with each other. And we had so much fun together… I will never forget these little breaks. I loved to be in charge of the music and of the aircon (sometimes, thanks Dan haha). I loved our parties and cakes on Friday. I loved that everybody just wanted to give me nice tasks and felt bad when it was not that nice (You felt bad, right Andrew?! ;) ).

Right now, as I’m writing this I remember all the nice memories that I will never forget. I will take them with me to Berlin. Thanks for making my time here so special and unforgettable! Di, Britt, Andrew, Matt,  Daniel, David, Manel and Bonnie – you guys are amazing!! I will miss you so much.

So it’s a goodbye for now but I’m pretty sure that we’ll see each other very soon again!

xxx Vicky

Jara Prins - The Netherlands

Hi there,

My name is Jara Prins and I’m from the Netherlands. Five months ago I went down under. Where did all that time go?! During my internship at Marketing Mechanics I got the opportunity to work on my web development skills, which I’m really grateful for! Diane gave my own little project, where I got to do all the things I wanted to do or learn. I got to work with clients, do coding and designing. I learned a lot from this experience on both professional and personal level.

I got to spend my Christmas in Australia, and the team showed me how it’s done. We had the best time decorating the place. I loved working with the marketing mechanics team, and a special shout out to Britt and Vicky and their cool music sessions.

I want to say a big thank you to Diane for having me, and to all future interns I would say you’re in great hands and enjoy your time at Marketing Mechanics!
Thanks again and hopefully I’ll see you all again someday!

Stefano Posani

Hello, my name is Stefano Posani, I am from Italy where I study Marketing, Communication and Global markets. Since I arrived in Australia, I was looking for finding and enjoying an unforgettable  experience in the marketing field, now I can strongly argue that I have satisfied my desire.

In Marketing Mechanics I never felt disappointed being as a part of the family who always supported me trusting in my professional skills. In my intern, I worked with clients and suppliers negotiating prices in addition to develop digital marketing skills learning all about marketing tasks as social media schedule, marketing research  and marketing plan’s creation.

In this experience I have grown up both professionally and personally gaining self-responsibility and improving my English knowledge as well.  Now  I’m feeling ready to face any kind of situation being sure that Marketing Mechanics will be helpful to find my own way not just in professional terms but also in my life. I absolutely suggest to catch this opportunity because it’s unique and  you will not regret it!

As a conclusion, I really want to say “THANK YOU” to Diane and her staff, I will never forget your kindness and the fantastic moments together! Take care!

Ciao e Arrivederci J

Rajshree B (Sydney, Australia)

WOW. It's been a short but sweet time here at Marketing Mechanics and I will definitely miss the team! This was my first practical experience in the marketing field and I have loved and learnt so much here! I am so grateful for Diane and the team at Marketing Mechanics for welcoming me so warmly.

I love the fact that I have been able to be fully involved in the different types of work and different types of clients here at the office. I have completed tasks such as social media scheduling, marketing research, assisting in writing up marketing plans and various other tasks in the marketing field. What I really also enjoyed about this experience is how much of a mentor Diane was to me, she will sit down with you and go through your work and really guide you along which really motivated me and made me want to work harder!

I have gained an amazing experience here, the internship has allowed me to walk away as a more confident individual not only professionally but also personally. It has also made me feel even more excited about what the marketing field holds for me!
I would highly recommend this internship opportunity for anyone who is interested in exploring the field of marketing as you will not be disappointed and will come out with an enriched understanding and hands-on experience in the field! Also, you will be working alongside lovely and helpful colleagues which always helps!

Thank you again to Diane, Andrew, Luke, Dan 1, Dan 2, David and Bonnie for always being so helpful and kind and making this a very memorable and enjoyable experience for me!!! I have so much gratitude to you guys! Take care :)

Hello everybody!

It is already 6 weeks ago I left Marketing Mechanics. Even the time back home in the Netherlands is going fast, but I am still thinking back about my time in Sydney. I had an great internship and learned a lot. I didn’t only learned things about marketing, but also about the Australian culture and Sydney. I also learned a lot about my colleagues and specially about Andrew Costa. Andrew always made me smile and told a lot of stories, mostly about himself.

In the first weeks of my internship, everything was still new and I had to find my place at the office. Fortunately at the same day another intern started, Vicky also from the Netherlands. I had a lot of fun with her at the office and we help each other during our time at Marketing Mechanics. The last month of my internship another intern came at the office, also from the Netherlands. Because everything was still new for her, both at the office and in Sydney, we helped her as much as we could. I would recommend to future interns to help each other as much as you can. This will make your time in Australia better and more fun at the office.

In the weekends I spend most of my time traveling around Sydney and seeing as much as I can. I went to the hunter valleys, the Blue Mountains, Canberra, Port Stevens and much more. I also went on Surfcamp, that was my best weekend in Australia. I had an amazing weekend, met a lot of new people and made new friends. Unfortunately I didn’t had the time and money to travel to the east coast, but when I am coming back to Australia I will definitely go there. And of course I would visit Diane and the rest at Marketing Mechanics.

I had an amazing time at Marketing Mechanics and if I could go back, I definitely would! I wish them all the best and to all the new interns of Marketing Mechanics; Could luck and enjoy your time at Marketing Mechanics and in Australia!

Cheers,

Feline!
My name is Julia Stark, I am from Germany and study Information management in Neu-Ulm, which is located in Bavaria. My studies are split in 3 different parts, information technology, economics and design. Last July I got the chance to study for one semester in Sydney, Australia at Mac Quarie University. I took 2 subjects, Public Relations and Organizational Planning. In addition I undertook an internship at Marketing Mechanics twice a week from 21.08.2007 until 31.10.2007 . At Marketing Mechanics I hade the chance to deepen my theoretical knowledge into practical knowledge. My main tasks were Website reviews, writing Marketing plans and designing different advertisement for their clients. I got the chance to see Marketing from a different angle. I am very glad getting to know the Australian working environment which is very different to the German one. People are very friendly, helpful and appreciate your work. I really enjoyed working with the Marketing Mechanics team and I will always remember them in a very positive way! End of January I will go back to Germany finishing my studies but I am sure that this wasn’t my last time in Australia! Thank you for your encouragement! I enjoyed a lot working in your team!

Shannon Roest - Marketing Intern

 Hi everyone!

I feel kind of sad that the moment to write this blog has arrived since it means that I will be leaving soon. It was the beginning of February (five months ago) when I entered the world of marketing for the first time. The young, inexperienced and most of all excited me. Hi, my name is Shannon, a Dutch girl who once had the dream to pack her bags and go Down Under for her internship.
I can count myself lucky that Marketing Mechanics opened her doors to me by offering a marketing internship. From the very beginning I felt welcome and appreciated by Diane and her team. Marketing Mechanics has got a lot of different clients with different marketing needs. Therefore, as an intern, you will be working on a variation of tasks. From a complete business plan for a start-up, presentations for an international company and social media schedules for different clients to many different marketing plans. In a period of just five months I learned so much about marketing while working here full time and had the opportunity to improve my English skills as well.
Diane and her lovely team will help interns develop themselves on both a professional and personal level.  As an intern you will be considered a full member of the team, your opinion will be valued and you will be working together with your colleagues which enables you to learn from specialists.  I was lucky to start my internship period together with Laura, a German intern who also came for a marketing placement. I would also like to thank her for this amazing period, you are the best!
I hope that all of you, that have the same dream as I once had turn their dream into reality, because it was the best thing I have ever done!
Thank you all for this amazing opportunity, you made my dream come true!

Shannon
Ps. “fake it till you make it” became my life quote!

Jovan Trobonjaca

Helloo! :)

My name is Jovan Trobonjaca, I have came from Melbourne to Sydney for a short stay and have been given an amazing opportunity by Marketing Mechanics to join their team for a month and take my first step into the big scary world of being a Graphic Designer..

Sadly Ive only been here a month but wow, WHAT an experience! I never thought nor planned to learn so much and take so much back from such a short time. from the second i walked into the front door of Marketing Mechanics I was greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. I met the rest of the team and everyone was great! There really isn’t a single think of that I didn’t like or found uncomfortable. This experience has enriched my life in many ways.

During my time at Marketing Mechanics I have gained a lot. Learning new ways of using Photoshop, InDesign and a bit of illustrator as well as being introduced to WordPress and also learning health and food facts every lunchtime from Laura and Shanon (Marketing Interns). I also feel very privileged to have been given a really big opportunity like creating a full page ad for a Magazine, This has actually always been a big dream of mine and I was blown away when I was given the opportunity to do just this. I also did a half page ad and some website banners for that one particular company as well as many other tasks.

Once the design was done I was ecstatic when I was given a copy of the magazine with my own design in it. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be given an opportunity this great and for that I want to thank Marketing Mechanics so much for everything they have done for me.
To conclude this amazing chapter of my life Id once again like to thank everyone that made my stay at Marketing Mechanics one I will never forget and also the opportunity given to me to see first hand what the Graphic Design industry is really like right after graduating.
(Like they say you will never forget your first ;) )

My time here really flew, This was because of the fact that I felt like I really wasn’t working and I couldn’t wait to get to work each day. Mondays weren’t shitty and there was no “I can’t wait for Friday” feeling throughout the week. I felt as though I could do this forever, I know now that I have chosen the right path and am proud to have work with such an amazing group of people.

Thank You & Goodbye for now :)

Jovan

Manon Emery

Hi there !

My name is Manon, I am from France and by the end of this week, I'll have been working at Marketing Mechanics for six monhs ! (Can't believe it's almost over !)

Enrolled in the Business Management Track of my French Business School, I decided to do my Gap Year here in Australia.
Before I started my internship at Marketing Mechanics I wasn't really sure whether I wanted to do a Marketing or Strategy/consulting career. Reason why I thought great I'm going to do 6-months in Marketing at Marketing Mechanics and then I'll find something in a consulting firm.

The thing is, after a couple of months here, I am now 100% sure I want to pursue a career in Marketing. During those six months, I had the chance to work on a wide variety of interesting projects. As a full-services marketing agency, Marketing Mechanics gives you the opportunity to carry out a lot of different tasks from writting a blog to elaborate a full Marketing Plan and this for all kind of clients.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that you'll really feel considered and part of the company because you will be entrust with more complicated taks as the time goes. Marketing Mechanics team is also really carring and lovely : someone will always be here for you if you need something from a professionnal or personnal point of view ! I remember our Christmas Party in front of the Bridge, our numerous cakes or lunchs all together, good times !

I think that doing an internship here in Australia is such a great opportunity ! No one should ever hesitate to do it ! If you have the chance, just grab it !

And to conclude I just want to say thank you to the entire Marketing Mechanics team as they helped me find my way !

Kaylee Leemhuis

Hi,
My whole big Australia adventure comes to an end, I’m Kaylee, a Dutch girl, that made part as an intern by Marketing Mechanics. Today is my last day and I’ve done my intern for almost 5 months, but it didn’t even feel that long. The things i created were very different, from logo's 'till packaging. Your never doing the same job, maybe one job takes a little bit more time. I used the same programs as home, the Adobe CS6 packaging (illustrator, indesign, photoshop, etc). I’ve joined the different way from work and behind all the hard work, the lovely employees ‘colleagues’ are so nice and funny. I’ve learned a lot and I’m really thankful for everything. Diane, Bonnie, Ayeisha, Annemarije, Daniel, Adam, David and other interns, I’m glad that i’ve met you all! Keep up the good work, i’ll miss you guys.

Thank you all, it’s time to go home..

Cheers,
Kaylee

A wonderful email from Victoria

Hi Diane,

Indonesia...a dream come true. It's just amazing, I can't enclosed some pics because internet is not powerful in Indonesia but there are some on my Facebook.

I would like to thank you again, this internship largely contributed to confirm my choices. I have enjoyed working with the staff and help clients to reach their goals and have learned so much about the field of media, and the challenges of marketing mechanics. I particularly liked building marketing plans; indeed this task was really complete. I am exciting to do my specialization in media next year.

I know that training a new intern is a lot of work for you and Ayeisha, and I appreciate your time and patience to answering all my questions and finding interesting tasks for me to do. Thank you again for helping to make my internship a rewarding experience. We will keep in touch.

Kind Regards,

Victoria Capron

Victoria Caprone

Hi Folks,

I’m Victoria a 22 years old French girl. I had a wonderful experience doing an internship with Marketing Mechanics over the past 4 months. The time went so fast, I can’t believe it!  I remember my first day in the agency, I was so scared and confused (everybody knows this feeling), and, you know what? this feeling was gone as fast as it came. The team was extremely welcoming and helpful during all this internship.

I would like to thank firstly Diane and Ayeisha, for giving me the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. I had the chance to observe numerous aspects of marketing and media, from advertising campaigns to traditional marketing.  There are not enough words to thank you, I couldn't have hoped for a better experience. The team is really professional and you will learn 1 year of courses in just few weeks, trust me.  I really felt part of a family; Bonnie, Daniel, David, Leon and interns thank you so much too you offered me terrific career advice!

I have gained valuable insight into the media industry.  This internship has definitely increased my interest in pursuing a career in that field. I am confident about my choices and capacities. I would love to stay in touch with all of you, you’ll see me again!

I have to say that this experience is the most fulfilling one I have had in a professional point of view. I have learnt a lot and met amazing people. During my time there I have handled a wide variety of tasks and I have been involved in a lot a very interesting projects.I couldn’t have expected better for a first marketing experience.

Marketing Mechanics provides its employees and interns with a fantastic work frame and a full dedication that act as natural incentives that make people want to work harder and more effectively to reach the objectives. I have had a wonderful experience as an intern thanks to the trust Marketing Mechanics has put in me, and the kindness of the staff. I felt like I was a part of their team and that made me work as if it was my own business. Being fully dedicated to this company was the least I could do. I wish that every student could find such a fulfilling experience.
